Jane Hoffman has been in the music/entertainment world for over three decades, getting her start in NYC as a secretary at Billboard Publications.
Hoffman was a UCLA Extension Marketing, PR, and Touring Professor for four years and rock editor for HITS Magazine where she was instrumental in the ground floor of the Active Rock Radio format and the creation of an effective tour marketing program. She was VP of Publicity and Artist Development at MCA Records under the direction of Larry Solters and a key member of the award-winning creative services team responsible for many award-winning print, TV, radio campaigns and album packaging for MCA artists and soundtracks and strategic alliances within MCA’s music, film and TV divisions.
Career highlights include Media Manager for Medals Plaza at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics; talent coordinator for the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) 86th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Closing Bell; co-producer of the Seattle Tsunami Benefit with the surviving members of Alice in Chains, Maynard Keenan/Tool and Heart; co-producer/talent liaison for the Station Family Fund Benefit and VH1 Telethon; brought MTV, VH1 and the Food Network to Lake Tahoe’s Harrah’s, Harveys, Heavenly Ski Resort and Sierra-At-Tahoe and opened the first stateside Cabo Wabo Cantina on the Lake; co-produced the FDNY/Uniformed Firefighters Association Free Concert in Battery Park; produced World Series of Poker Opening Party; got Jeff Beck to play the National Anthem at The Long Beach Grand Prix, has represented artists as diverse as Twisted Sister, Rosanna Arquette, and Quincy Jones who nicknamed her the “Magenta Yenta.”
While her most memorable experience to-date was handling media at Medals Plaza at the SLC Winter Olympics in the months following 9/11, mistakenly opening up Alice Cooper’s bag of snakes and Courtney Love officiating the marriages of multiple radio station winners from a stage in Lake Tahoe may be forever etched in her mind.
She does whatever Larry Solters asks her to do, as he continues to show her How It’s Done.
