Debbie comes to Scoop Marketing with a wealth of experience as an international entertainment communications and PR professional, journalist and author. At Scoop she looks after corporate clients across music, sports and technology. Her past roles include Director Corporate Entertainment at Rogers & Cowan in Los Angeles; Communications and Public Affairs Director at the Australasian Performing Right Association; and PR lead at Apple for Australia during the launch of iTunes. Debbie was a senior oral history consultant to the National Film & Sound Archive of Australia for more than eight years and ran publicity for the Brisbane International Film Festival and Biennial International Music Festival, publicizing hundreds of artists in all genres of music from rock and pop to jazz, classical and opera. Through her own communications firm, Kruger PRofiles, Debbie’s clients included the Australian Trade Commission, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Opera Queensland and many recording and touring artists, composers, filmmakers, photographers and visual artists. She has publicized musicians and films at SXSW and represented clients at film festivals including Sundance, Cannes and Toronto.
Debbie is also an acclaimed writer who spent four years as a staff reporter and reviewer for Variety in Sydney and London. Her book, Songwriters Speak, contains in-depth interviews with 45 iconic tunesmiths; she has written for many publications around the world including Performing Songwriter, Goldmine, Rhythms, The Australian and Sydney Morning Herald; and has been a content provider for websites, press kits and personal brand marketing campaigns.
